The "Aargauische Gebäudeversicherung" (AGV) is a state monopoly insurer. The institute covers fire damage and acts of God for properties in the canton Aargau and offers basic supplementary insurance on a voluntary basis. Since 1971, AGV has been competing with private insurance companies in the field of property water insurance. In this area, AGV has a market share of approx. 70%.

AGV is the oldest property insurer in Switzerland. The company insures more than 200,000 properties with an actuarial value of approx. 146 billion Swiss francs.

Since 1999, the property portfolio has been administered with the ALICE system which is based on SAP.

In 1999, all property insurance data (approx. 190,000 contracts) was migrated to this new portfolio management system. The client/server solution ALICE replaces the old mainframe computer technology. Currently, approx. 40 employees administer approx. 210,000 contracts, with their pertaining partners and objects, using ALICE.

The direct link of the field staff to ALICE shortens and speeds up the administration processes for property evaluations and claim estimations. Time consuming and expensive core business processes of property evaluations and claim estimations are automated and linked to the core system. At the same time, all relevant customer data and contract data is available.

The electronic link of the entire field staff to ALICE was promoted in the fiscal year 2004. This makes not only makes work more efficient, but also more transparent and easier to control.
